Weed-IT AG
Weed-IT AgTo make the WEEDit detection sensors suitable for Agricultural circumstances, in 2008 the WEEDit Ag is been developed. The working principle of these new sensors is the same as the Weed-IT MK-II, while the sensors are now suitable for bigger working widths and tougher condtions. WEEDit Ag detection sensors have a working width of 1 meter and it can be extended to systems up to 36 meters wide.
Working principle Weed-ITThe basic principle of WEEDit is based on fluorescence. All living plants contain cholrofyll and WEEDit uses the fluorescing effects of this. By emitting red light by the sensor, the chlorophyll of the plants shifts this into infrared light, which is been detected by the WEEDit detection sensor. With this information the position of the weed is been determined and a solenoid valve will be activated to spray just the weed. |

Working widthDe WEEDit Ag sensors work on a height of 1,10 meter and have a detection width of 1 meter. Each sensor has five channels, what means it has detection strips on every 20 centimeters with a corresponding solenoid. A system can handle a maximum of 36 sensors, what comes down to 36 meter working width. |

SpeedWEEDit Ag is developed to operate with a maximum speed of 25 km per hour. The system takes a sample every millimeter and has therefore no problem with changes in background conditions; the main being changes in soil type/colour and stubble load. It also has automatic background calibration so that the system is always operating at its optimum. For the farmer this means you can have optimum performance across the entire field! Power boxWhen a WEEDit system is equiped with a big amount of sensors, power supply is going to be important. This is why for the WEEDit Ag a special power converter is developed. This power box converts 12 Volt to 48 Volt and feeds the sensors and the solenoid valves. At the same time is this power box the central point of the system where all components are connected. PWM flow controlWEEDit uses PWM flow control to manage the flow rate at any speed. Once the rate is set, there is no need to worry about the right speed of the operation. Light weightSensors are spaced on the boom at 1 per meter so the WEEDit has significantly less sensors. Less sensors mean less electronics and lower weight. Making WEEDit more suitable for fitting to existing booms by creating lower loads on the suspension system - this is especially important when operating at high speeds. Sensors protectionWEEDit uses the best quality sensors available and to protect these expensive parts we have designed a robust metal housing unit that shields the sensors and given it operates 1,10 meter off the ground this minimizes possible damage. |

User friendly consoleThe easy to use console makes it possible to change the sensitivity of the spraying operation to suit any variety of spraying needs. The console contains a memory function that allows the operator to check how much chemical has been used and saved. It also displays the performance of the sensors as they operate. Work Day or NightWEEDit has its own light source which means you do not need to stop spraying at night. Actually weed detection improves at night because there is less interference from sunlight and summer weeds are often less stressed at night so reaction to chlorophyll is greater. NozzlesThe WEEDit uses narrow fan angle nozzles that produce coarse droplets that are ideal for minimizing drift and for targeting broadleaf weeds. WEEDit Specifications
